CHAPTER 169

CAPTIVITY AND, THE CHAINS OF HELL, AND THE POWER OF DELIVERANCE

The adversary seeketh to bring the children of men into subjection unto him.

He seeketh to encircle them about with his chains.

He seeketh to chain them down to everlasting destruction.

This is according to the power of his captivity.

Those who harden their hearts receive the lesser portion of the word.

They continue until they know nothing concerning the mysteries of God.

They are taken captive by the Devil.

They are led by his will down to destruction.

This is what is meant by the chains of hell.

The spirits of the wicked chose evil works rather than good.

The spirit of the Devil entered into them.

It took possession of their house.

They are cast into outer darkness.

There is weeping and wailing.

There is gnashing of teeth.

This is because of their own iniquity.

They are led captive by the will of the Devil.

They remain in darkness until the time of their resurrection.

The fall brought temporal and spiritual death upon mankind.

Humanity was cut off from the presence of the Lord.

Humanity became subject to follow after its own will.

The probationary state became a preparatory state.

It became a time to repent.

It became a time to serve God.

Without the plan of redemption, the souls of men would remain miserable.

They would remain cut off from the presence of the Lord.

There would be no means to reclaim them from their fallen state.

The plan of redemption was prepared from the foundation of the world.

The Great Creator prepared a way of deliverance.

There must needs be a power of resurrection.

There must needs be an infinite atonement.

Otherwise corruption could not put on incorruption.

Otherwise the first judgment would remain to an endless duration.

Death and hell must deliver up their dead.

Hell must deliver up its captive spirits.

The grave must deliver up its captive bodies.

The bodies and spirits of men shall be restored one to the other.

This restoration cometh by the power of the resurrection of the Holy One of Israel.

The paradise of God must deliver up the spirits of the righteous.

The grave must deliver up the bodies of the righteous.

The spirit and the body shall be restored to themselves again.

All men shall become incorruptible and immortal.

They shall become living souls.

All men must appear before the judgment seat of the Holy One of Israel.

Then cometh judgment.

They must be judged according to the holy judgment of God.

The righteous shall be righteous still.

The filthy shall be filthy still.

The law of God must be fulfilled.

The Holy One of Israel delivereth His saints from the Devil.

He delivereth His saints from death.

He delivereth His saints from hell.

He delivereth His saints from endless torment.

He cometh into the world that He may save all men who will hearken unto His voice.

He suffereth the pains of all men.

He suffereth this that the resurrection might pass upon all men.

All men shall stand before Him at the great and judgment day.

He commandeth all men that they must repent.

They must be baptized in His name.

They must have perfect faith in the Holy One of Israel.

They must endure to the end.

The Son hath power over the dead.

He bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead.

Those who keep the commandments of God shall come forth.

They shall be raised to dwell with God.

They shall have eternal life through Christ.

Christ hath broken the bands of death.

The Lord redeemeth none who wilfully rebel against Him and die in their sins.

They knew the commandments of God.

They would not keep them.

Justice retaineth its claim.

God cannot deny Himself.

God called upon men in the name of His Son.

If they repent and harden not their hearts, He will have mercy upon them.

Whosoever repenteth and hardeneth not his heart hath claim upon mercy.

Through the Only Begotten Son cometh remission of sins.

The repentant shall enter into the rest of God.

Those who harden their hearts and continue in iniquity shall not enter into His rest.

Therefore harden not your hearts.

Receive the word of God.

Repent and serve God.

Believe in the Son of God.

Receive remission through His merits.

Come forth from captivity.

Break the chains of hell.

Enter into the rest of the Lord.

Amen.
